What is Maker Faire?

Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, projects.

We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth - a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.

About Our Maker Faire

Our Mission:
Shreveport-Bossier Maker Faire celebrates creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning while connecting our community to the future of STEAM education and workforce opportunities.

Shreveport- Bossier Maker Faire is produced by Northwest LASTEM Innovation Center, Region 7, the North Louisiana STEAM Alliance (NLSA) and Bossier Parish Community College in partnership with Make: Community, publishers of Make: magazine and creators of the global Maker Faire movement.

From weekend hobbyists to seasoned pros, makers are endlessly curious, wildly resourceful, and always ready to share. Shreveport-Bossier Maker Faire celebrates the creativity, ingenuity, and do-it-yourself spirit that make our region unique.

The inaugural Shreveport – Bossier Maker Faire took place on the Centenary College Campus in 2015! Since then, the event has grown through the dedication of volunteers, educators, industry partners, and community organizations who believe in the power of creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The 2026 Shreveport-Bossier Maker Faire will be the 7th and the first time it will be hosted on the Bossier City side of the Red River! We are grateful to be part of a passionate community dedicated to expanding STEAM learning and innovation across North Louisiana.

By hosting the event on a community college campus, Maker Faire helps connect creativity and curiosity with real-world career pathways in fields such as manufacturing, engineering, automation, energy, digital media, and the skilled trades. Visitors will be able to see how hands-on making can lead to education opportunities, industry certifications, and meaningful careers that support the future workforce of our region.

Through this event, we aim to:

  • Build a strong network of regional makers

  • Showcase creative projects and innovations

  • Offer engaging, hands-on experiences for all ages

  • Support grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship

  • Highlight the Maker Movement as a pathway to workforce development

  • Celebrate diverse energy resources, technologies, and strategies

Join the Maker Movement

Whether you are a crafter, coder, builder, inventor, artist, homesteader, scientist, or young maker, Shreveport-Bossier Maker Faire welcomes you to participate in the “Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth.”

Maker categories include engineering, arts, crafts, homesteading, science, youth makers, and more. Exhibits may feature demonstrations, workshops, performances, or interactive displays. While a limited number of commercial vendors are welcome, all participants are strongly encouraged to provide a hands-on activity for visitors.

Hands-on learning and creative exploration are at the heart of Maker Faire—and we can’t wait to see what our community will make next.

Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine. It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.
